Kentucky's Grapevine Charlie
The Beginning
Charlie was born March 21, 1998 in Shopville Kentucky. His father was Annie's Captain My Captain. His mother was Cherokee Rain Dance.
Charlie was one of 3 pups from a litter of 11 who survived. He was bottle fed because his mother had mammory tumors and could not feed her babies.
Growing Up
Charlie was raised by one of my stepdaughters until he was six months old. He lived on an army base in Georgia. When a new infant came on the scene, my stepdaughter feared Charlie was a little too aggressive around her baby and returned him. He's been with us ever since.
Charlie was also an 'alpha' male and several bloody and costly fights with the 'boss' convinced us to have him neutered. Things have settled down a little since.
Born to Ride
Charlie's favorite words are 'go for a ride'. He loves to ride in a car. He seems to know whenever we are planning to leave and will lay in front of the door as if to say "Not without me".
Charlie is our best fetcher and will retrieve a tennis ball for hours.
Good Bye Ole Friend
We layed Charlie to rest on April 10, 2010 after a long battle with CRF. He now sleeps under the pines beside his brother Lil Man and Cap his daddy.
To the very end Charlie was a loving friend who never met a stranger. Sleep well ole friend and thanks for the warmth that you brought into our lives.
