Planning Your Website

Content is Crucial

The most important part of your website is its content.

You can build the most beautiful website in the world with all the bells and whistles of modern day technology and the site can fail in its purpose because the content is poorly prepared.

I recommend writing out the text portion of your content using the keywords from your research in a simple text editor and storing it in a safe place until you get ready to add it to actual web pages.

Proof read vigorously. I've got client products that I can't give away because the webmasters don't proof read their content.

The best option would be to write your content in a wordprocessor with a spell checker and then convert the text to simple text files for adding to your web pages.

Organize your text articles into categories. You might create subfolders with category names to store your information. Use the articles in the subfolders for creating pages and subpages.

Examples: About our Business, Product info, Service info, Contact info

When you've got all of your content written out and stored, take a piece of paper and pencil and create a simple flow chart with boxes and arrows of the site you want to create.

This will give you a basic idea of the web pages you need to create when you actually start constructing your website.

Graphics and Photos

Organize the graphics, photos and images that will be placed in your content. Save all of them in a special folder for easy access. Get some kind of a graphics editor and optimize them for web use.
If you are going to be using video or audio files get those organized.

Sure it's a lot of work!!! But, website building is just like everything else in life, You get out what you put in!!

The Goal

Your goal is very basic. Create web content that is original using your keywords. Create content that your users will want to link to and share with others.
