Free Photo Editor

One of the most common mistakes novice website authors make is placing huge unoptimized photos on their web pages that take aeons to load in a visiting browser. Most visitors are gone before the images are even half loaded.

Demonstration

For a demonstration of what I'm talking about Click Here. This is a 1.6mb jpeg taken from a digital camera. The photo will open in a separate frame, so you can minimize it while you are waiting for it to load.

You can judge how old our website is by our reference to dial up users. These days most people are on some kind of high speed. Most designers have written off the dial up user.

It is still a good idea to optimize your images.

So What Do You Do?

Download PhotoScape 3.5

This is the best free photo editor I've found. You won't believe the features. You can resize, crop, round edges of photos and even crop circular sections of photos.

Save them as optimized jpeg, png and gif images.

Download Photoscape 3.5

We tested this software on Windows Vista and it installed and ran perfectly!!

Click to enlargeHere's a thumbnail of the same photo that I resized and optimized in about 2 seconds using PhotoScape.

If you want to display the large images, use thumbnails and give people the option of waitng for the larger images to load.
