ReadyMadeJoomla
(Monday, 01 December 2008) Written by Administrator
I spent some time working with the ReadyMadeJoomla package.    The biggest part of my time has been spent uploading files.  That's no fault of the package.  I uploaded the Business site package on my satellite internet connection.  It took 2 hours to get all of the files into place and about 5 minutes to install it.    Then I tried uploading the Community site on my NetZero dial up connection.  That took about 2 hours and then 5 minutes to install the website.   Both of the websites installed with no problems.  Anyone with a real high speed connection shouldn't have any problems.   In my opinion the TemplateMaker would best be removed from the package.  I doubt very seriously if it will work on any Vista cursed machine.  What does?  I have read reports of some who have used it on XP.  There is a new version in the works and you can get on a waiting list to try it out.   Being on this worthless Hughesnet satellite, I haven't gotten up at 3 in the morning to download the video tutorials.  They are bundled in a 300+ mb zip file.  If I use more than 200mb bandwidth a day, my service shuts down, so the videos will have to wait until my next insomnia attack.   I guess  this package would be good for someone whose web host doesn't provide a script installer.   It would also be good for someone who wants a shortcut to setting up a community site with a forum.
