Kentucky's Grapevine Zack

Zack dubbed 'Little Man' because of his smaller stature is another surviver from the 1998 litter of 11 puppies born to Cap and Cheerokee. Little Man was diagnosed as a 'hydro baby' by the vet who said that he probably wouldn't live to maturity.

Lost in the Wilderness

Little Man was lost in the dead of winter for about 3 days when he was about 2 years old. The ground was covered with snow and I was able to track him by following the prints he left in the white stuff. I had almost given up on the third day of searching, when I came face to face with a very large bobcat. I was beginning to think he had eaten Little Man, but shortly after seeing the cat Little Man came bouncing to the other side of the fence where I had been tracking him.

Bottomless Pit

Though smaller in size than the other boy dogs in our family, Little Man could out eat all of them. Because of problems with his mouth it was sometimes hard to get him started. After the first bite 'Look Out'.

Little Man did love attention. He was always looking for that extra pat and seemed the most interested of all when someone was speaking to him.

What's Wrong?

Even as a young dog Little Man had a strange habit of passing out when he vomited. I knew something was wrong and took him to several vets who never diagnosed his problem. Finally I found Dr Hall at Animal Care Center who listened to his heart and found a murmur. Further tests revealed that he had a heart valve that wasn't working properly. Lil Man died in his sleep February 19, 2005. We miss him dearly.
